PLOT:

Clare, a young Irish convict, chases a British officer through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness and is bent on revenge for a terrible act of violence the man committed against her family. On the way, she enlists the services of Aboriginal tracker Billy, who is marked by trauma from his own violence-filled past.

WHY IT'S TRIGGERING:

The Nightingale is terrifying, it doesn't leave a second to breathe and calm down, many SA scenes one after another. (Non Se*ual) violence on minors. Violence is present in every single scene and it's very disturbing. It starts from the first minutes into the movie and I think it will follow you until the end. Unfortunately I couldn't stand it and I left after 15 painful minutes. It would trigger anyone, even without SA or violence trauma.

A POSITIVE NOTE:

I think me walking out ,as many people from it, it's a success for the director, she truly made it so disturbing it did something to us. She wanted to show how horrifying these acts were during Tasmanian colonial violence. We shall not forget and I wasn't honestly aware of this piece of history. I'm glad I know now.
