PLOT:

In the eighteenth century, a young and naïve Catherine marries Peter III of Russia. Her ambitions and optimism shatter as she discovers Peter's frivolous, cruel, and spiteful nature, and realises he only married her for an heir.

WHY IT'S TRIGGERING:

Very disgusting behaviors towards Catherine, non-consensual sex, objectified women, women degrading scenes.

POSITIVE NOTE:

I think many should watch this series because unfortunately women are still treated poorly and Catherine is such a powerful character. Nicholas Hoult is so unlikeable that you appreciate his performance. Elle Fanning is stunningly talented. The series has a lot of comic reliefs. It's different from what you'd expect by looking at stills and teasers. You see people wearing gorgeous costumes and you expect a Bridgerton-like romantic vibe from this series. It's VERY far from your expectations, it's real, raw, very accurate behaviour-wise, and it's a breath of fresh air for sure.
